ARTreach Programs serving children at risk

A Rhythm Journey
Musician Dan Egger-Belandria takes the classroom on a unique journey that helps teachers and children appreciate music interaction as an easy way to uncover and nurture their creative side. Rhythm Journey is a powerful experience of rhythmic collaboration through which students explore self awareness and self expression. Dan uses call and response techniques to develop the group’s drumming vocabulary while emphasizing key learning points around team and relationship building. This is a hands-on approach to breaking down barriers within a group to create a shared vision that is fun and rewarding!

World Rhythm Synergy
Using percussion instruments from throughout the world, musician Dan Egger-Belandria demonstrates how Western culture evolved through drumming and dance traditions. From Africa to the Caribbean; South, Central and North America, World Rhythm Synergy is a musical field trip that students can envision while learning history.

Throughout this ethnomusicology journey, your students will have an opportunity to explore various African, Afro-Cuban, and Caribbean rhythms and folklore that help explain the connection between African-American history and Hispanic heritage. The program will have them playing, dancing, even rapping - available in English and Spanish!
