ARTreach Programs serving children at risk- "Mentoring through Art" and URGEWORKS
URGEWORKS Programs combine mentors, urban arts and the positive aspects of the hip hop culture to support education and improved learning. ARTreach is utilizing the positive aspects street dancing, graffiti art and RAP to help kids to stay off drugs, stay off the streets, stay out of trouble and stay in school- Chris Gamez and his team of dancers teach these creative programs in a relevant and inspirational manner. Schools may book any URGEWORKS Program through ARTreach to support Red Ribbon Week. Subsidies are available to title one schools. Please inquire info@artreachonline.org
- These programs introduce the character building traits respect, perservance and honesty incorporated into art and dance lessons that help address difficult topics such as drug addiction, drug and alcohol abuse, stress, anger, sterotyping and bullying.
URGEWORKS “Be You! Presentation”
URGEWORKS presents the positive “Be Yourself!” message through a hip-hop presentation to an audience of all ages. URGEWORKS will take student on a journey that encourages individuality and self- confidence.
URGEWORKS “A Math Show” This is a general assembly that combines Hip Hop and Math to grasp concepts in a fun and relevant way that captures the attention of all ages.

Spokenword and RAP Workshop (Rhythm And Poetry)
Students are given an opportunity to make their voice HEARD through the power of the written and the spoken word and learn how to make their words work for them, not against them!
Graffiti ART- Art with a Voice
This is an ARTreach residency program that teaches students to paint expressively on giant canvas. The workshop focuses on the positive elements of Graffiti Art. Taught by professional artists, students will learn how to express themselves in a non-destructive non-violent manner. Graffiti Art is a powerful tool for communication.
URGEWORKS After School URBAN ARTS CLUBS & Summer Camps
Whether its dancing, graffiti art, MC or RAP, these programs work well as after school enrichment, summer camp or extra curricular studies that support tutorials, diversion, adaptive and transitional behavior.
URGEWORKS Motivational Presentation- Just SAY NEVER!
Perfect for Red Ribbon Week in the school districts - This program tackles drug and alcohol abuse awareness and prevention, gang awareness and the core realities associated with peer pressure, poor self image, and low self esteem.

ARTreach Mentoring Through Arts Programs are facilitated by qualified and professional teaching artists. ARTreach adheres to low student teacher ratio to support higher impact and to provide the attention the children need in order to be successful. Any of these ARTreach programs can be requested and booked for you school or community. ARTreach hosts a roster of approved teaching artists skilled in working with at risk populations and young children, Collaborative projects are designed to encourage social skills, team building, tolerance and appreciation for others work.
Cultural Arts and Arts-in-Education
Masterpiece Art
ARTreach offers Arts-in-Education workshops that teach the style of the expressive artists of the 20th Century. Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh are few of the artists studied in these workshops to inspire the students to create their own beautiful and expressive artwork. These can be scheduled as one time workshops or set up as a series of 6 week terms to promote relationship building.
Out of Africa
“Out of Africa” is an ARTreach Cultural Arts Program taught by Professional Teaching Artist Vickie McMillan. This 6 week art course combines Watercolor lessons with stories, music, photos and facts that details Vickie’s own journey as an artist through Africa. Vickie is teaching applied watercolor techniques while inspiring students to paint African wildlife, Sunsets, indigenous trees. She introduces creative writing and journaling techniques that explore the unique customs associated with the African people and their culture. The students will create a world tour portfolio and watercolor journal that traces their own unfolding and imaginative journey through this unique country and culture. “Out of Africa” supports educational objectives aimed at social studies, world geography and fine arts. The program also supports ARTreach objectives aimed at self awareness, self expression, environmental awareness, cultural differences and social compassion.
This artist offers a similar program based on her Art Journey through the Philippines, Mexico and Thailand. Her programs are also available for professional staff development.
African Bead Painting
Nigerian artist Lanre Buraimoh teaches His program explores the Yoruba people and the unique culture behind this lost art form. Lanre Buraimoh is one of the most versatile artists trained in a modernized version of this West Africa art form. His beadwork, oil on canvas and batik have been featured in some of the top galleries in the world, most notably the Atlanta Via-Mundi Art Gallery, Cary- McPheeters Gallery, Atlanta and other locations. Lanre Buraimoh is a pronounced member of (C.O.P.A.) Confederation of Professional Artists and (O.O.A.A) Osogbo Oroki Artists Alliance.
Master Art –Through the Ages
This is an educational program that utilizes famous master works as the inspiring introduction to basic drawing and painting techniques while incorporating a formal introduction to the history of art. Curriculum designed by Terri Bieber, Master Art incorporates TEKS objectives and is offered as a two-semester course:
- Tracing the history of art through a project timeline based on the artists or artwork representative of the art period. The program introduces beginning and advanced drawing techniques, including proportion and perspective.
- Utilizing and applying several color balance and basic composition theories.
- Introduces numerous application techniques for various media including acrylic paints on canvas, watercolor, soft and oil pastel, classic resist methods, prisma-color, charcoal and clay sculpture. Master Art –Through the Ages will progressively advance the student through the various ages of art by introducing classic periods of artistic styles and then working to create unique artistic interpretations and one-of-a-kind artwork inspired by selected masters from each period. This is an ARTreach Arts-in-Education Program that supports home-school, private school and other alternative educational communities. Master Art Through the Ages is designed with lessons and special projects to accommodate all ages. Master Art- Through the Ages Program syllabus is available upon request
World Rhythm Journey
Musician Dan Egger-Belandria takes the classroom on a unique journey that helps teachers and children appreciate music interaction as an easy way to uncover and nurture their creative side. Rhythm Journey is a powerful experience of rhythmic collaboration through which students explore self awareness and self expression. Dan uses call and response techniques to develop the group’s drumming vocabulary while emphasizing key learning points around team and relationship building. This is a hands-on approach to breaking down barriers within a group to create a shared vision that is fun and rewarding!

SONGWRITING
This program is taught by singer and songwriter Janet Buller and allows kids to fully express their feelings through writing music and lyrics, and learn to communicate their thoughts and ideas in a positive, artistic way. Janet facilitates the workshop in a manner that engages the entire class in the songwriting process. She collaborates with other musicians and leads creative exercises that encourages students to journal and share their results.
VOCATIONAL ART
Clay Animation Workshops
Students become film producers is this comprehensive clay animation workshop. This program supports social skills/team work/and educational objectives that support language arts, math and science TEKS. Clay Animation is scheduled as 4 workshops and includes materials and offsite editing hours and includes final DVD movies and film awards ceremony.
Ceramics 101 - Art with a Purpose
ARTreach Clay and Ceramic Specialists teach Art with a Purpose - Ceramics 101. The students will enjoy working with professional ceramic artists and learn business skills and very creative techniques to make sellable, functioning works of art. Students are inspired to focus on their talents and creativity to become happy, successful, and productive. ARTreach has several teachers trained to work in studio programs and outreach.
CHARACTER EDUCATION- Tools 4 Teens
In the Tools 4 Teens Program designed by Kelly Litvak each student will create their own scrapbook with one page layout being completed per week. Each art lesson has a social theme that supports a topic of the week. Topics include drug abuse, cyber bullying, abstinence issues, healthy relationships and peer pressure. The lessons incorporate graphic design, photography and creative writing combined with future planning and goal setting. Teachers Kelly Litvak and Photographer Lori Stanton

Mentoring through Art- Whole Child Art, Health and Environment
Combines Mentors and Art workshops embrace the needs of the whole child and teach about nutrition, good food benefits, environmental awareness, health, education and fine art. ARTreach offers a series of creative projects that combine whole health ideas with all kinds of interpretive art processes! Provides educational support for children and families in need.
